Portals, dashboards and forms that hold up

Web applications

A dashboard someone stares at for eight hours and an application form a stranger fills in once are different problems. We build both, and we do not confuse them.

What you get.

Fast on the connection you actually have

Pages rendered on the server and sent as finished HTML, so the first view does not wait on a pile of JavaScript. This is the difference between usable and abandoned outside a metro.

Public forms kept away from private data

The form a stranger fills in runs on a separate surface from the dashboard your staff use. A mistake on the public side cannot reach the private side.

Works on a phone, properly

Not a desktop layout squeezed down. The mobile view is designed for the jobs people genuinely do on a phone.

Reporting people will actually open

The three numbers that matter on the first screen, with the full detail one click away, instead of a wall of charts nobody reads twice.

How this one runs.

  1. Find the screen that matters

Every business has one screen its day runs through. We find it first and build it properly, because everything else is secondary to it.

  2. Design for the messy state

Empty, loading, half-filled and failed. Software that has only been designed for the successful case falls apart in its first real week.

  3. Build it accessible

Keyboard navigation, real contrast and labels that screen readers can use. This is also just better software for everyone.

  4. Measure it on a real device

Load times checked on a mid-range phone on a throttled connection before launch, not on a developer laptop on fibre.

Questions about web apps.

How fast is fast enough?

The test we use is a mid-range Android on a throttled connection, not a laptop on fibre. If the main screen is not usable there, it is not finished, however good the numbers look in the office.

Can customers log in and see their own information?

Yes, and it is usually the highest-value thing you can add. A customer portal removes a large share of the phone calls that exist only because somebody wants to know where their order is.

What about accessibility?

Keyboard navigation, contrast that passes WCAG AA, and proper labels are built in rather than added after an audit. It is cheaper done first, and it makes the software better for people who are simply tired or in bright sunlight.

Do you do the hosting?

We set it up and run it, on accounts in your name and your billing. You can see the bill, and you can take the keys whenever you want them.

Tell us what your business is running on right now.

Thirty minutes, no charge, no slide deck. We will tell you whether this is something we can build and roughly what it would take. If it is not a fit, we will say so on the call.
